Frequently Asked Questions

What is coaching?

“ICF defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. The process of coaching often unlocks previously untapped sources of imagination, productivity and leadership.

We all have goals we want to reach, challenges we’re striving to overcome and times when we feel stuck. Partnering with a coach can change your life, setting you on a path to greater personal and professional fulfillment.” Source: https://coachingfederation.org/about

Is the process confidential?

Coaching is a confidential process, and anything shared in the coaching session will be kept between us.

How is coaching different from other disciplines?

Coaching is about the present and future, with the emphasis that the client already has what they need within themselves to move forward. I, as the coach, serve as a catalyst by asking powerful questions, observing emotions and behaviors, and partnering with you around accountability and meeting your goals. This document will help you to better understand the distinctions between coaching and other disciplines like therapy, mentoring, consulting, and training. How long is the coaching engagement?

The length of the coaching engagement is dependent on the client’s needs. A three- to six-month time frame can be a good starting point. However, it depends again on what will work best for the client. Some factors that influence how long the engagement lasts are the frequency of meetings, client schedule, and types of goals.

How often do we meet?

I work with the client to come up with a meeting schedule that works for them. This will be dependent on the timeframe of the engagement and the needs of the client. Some clients like to meet weekly, biweekly, or monthly. It will depend on the client’s timeline and goals.

Is there a set of standards for coaching you follow?

I have completed my Leadership Coaching for Organizational Well-Being certification at George Mason University. I follow the professional standards and core competencies outlined by the International Coaching Federation.
